We will visit the most renowned wine producing region of the world.
Bordeaux located in the south west of France, is home to more sought after and expensive wines than any other wine region.
A modern and dynamic city Bordeaux is the 4th largest city in France, situated along the Garonne river.
1810 hectares of Bordeaux are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
You will be met on arrival at Bordeaux Merignac airport with a comfortable air conditioned coach.
Arriving at your 4 star boutique hotel in the centre of Bordeaux, which is within walking distance of the waterfront, shops, restaurants and the cathedral, where you will stay for the next four nights.
There will be plenty of time for you to check in leisurely and take a stroll through Bordeaux city centre.
We meet for an early evening dinner which will be at one of the local restaurants close to the hotel in the pedestrianised square.
After breakfast, we will visit the newly opened wine museum, Le Cité du Vin, situated on the banks of the river.
The museum has been in development for seven years and is a great introduction to the wines and regions of Bordeaux.
This afternoon, we travel to Pessac Léognan on the Left Bank to visit a winery dating back to the 15th Century.
We have an escorted tour of the vineyard and winery followed by a tasting. In the evening a wine pairing dinner will be served at the Château.
After breakfast, we depart for Saint Émilion on the right bank to visit the contemporary Château La Dominique, designed by a famous French architect.
Here you will have a tour of the unique property and a tasting, followed by a traditional lunch at the modern terrace restaurant, located above the winery with panoramic views of the vineyards of Saint Émilion and Pomerol, and of the prestigious Châteaux in the surrounding area.
There will then be some free time to explore the narrow streets of Saint Émilion, and the little shops and cafés, before we head back to the hotel for a free evening to relax.
After a free morning we travel to the left bank to visit a prestigious Château where we will have a tour of the winery and vineyards followed by a tasting.
We return to Bordeaux where dinner is at a traditional french restaurant in the city centre.
After checking out of the hotel we will drive to Sauternes on the right bank, the most famous sweet wine region in the world.
Then we visit a beautiful Premier Grand Cru Classé Château dating back to the 13th Century when it was used as a fortress.
We then have a tour of the vineyards and winery, followed by a tasting and lunch in this magnificent Château.
After lunch there will be some free time in Sauternes village, an opportunity to taste and purchase some more wines, before we travel back to the airport in preparation for the flight home.
